Volunteers & Donors Are Key
Although the sales cycle is very simple, it does rely on the kindness of donors and the effort of volunteers.
Members of the public and businesses donate items.
A team leader organizes pickup of the items.
On receipt of the items at our shop, the staff (OKU) will process them ready for sale
How LDS Works
LDS is modelled on charity shops which can be found in most towns in the UK.
Our principle method of operation is to collect donations of cash and goods from the public and businesses, and sell the goods from a retail unit.
Revenue from the sale of goods, with the cash donations added, pays the overhead and rewards our ‘staff’.
Based on our principle of treating people with a learning difculty as equal members of society we refer to them as ‘our staff’.Currently, the staff manage the stock of donations, display the items at the point of sale and engage with customers.
Constant ‘on the job’ training is essential!
